The violent house incident at Speaker Nancy's residence in the morning of Friday which resulted in
an attack that resulted in her husband Paul in a hospital shook Washington in a period when
fears of political violence were already increasing. The attack is an egregious rise in
the kinds of aggressive threats lawmakers from both parties have witnessed in recent months,
especially following last year's bloody Capitol assault. For some members of the Hill group,
it was the fact that the perpetrator yelled "where's Nancy?" during the attack
that echoed protests of the pro-Trump January. 6 rioters took over the Capitol as well as searched
through the hallways in search of the speaker, in an effort to block
the official recognition of President Joe Biden's election victory.
