According to court documents, singer-songwriter husband Morgan Evans and country star Kelsea Ballerini divorced last week.
The pop-country musician behind "Miss Me More" described the choice as "deeply difficult" in a statement posted to Instagram on Monday.
The 28-year-old Ballerini said in her social media post that "[It's] a result of a journey of love, growth, and effort that ultimately has come to an end."
Ballerini filed for divorce on Friday, according to court records in Davidson County. As of early Monday, a complete court complaint was unavailable.
Ballerini expressed her gratitude for her nearly five years of marriage to Evans, an Australian country music star on a major label who is 37 years old.
According to the celebrity news website People, Ballerini and Evans first spoke in 2016 at an awards ceremony in Australia.
In late 2017, the couple exchanged vows on a beach in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.
Please remember that Ballerini and I are both vulnerable, actively healing, and going out as best we can given our upcoming busy schedules.
Ballerini advanced on Music Row during their marriage and is now an ACM and CMA Award-winning hitmaker best known for the songs "Legends," "Hole in the Bottle," and "Half of My Hometown."
On September 23, the Knoxville native's new album, "Subject to Change," will be released.
The Country and the Coast (Side A), Evans' most recent album, was made available last fall by Warner Music Nashville.
